14TH ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS - March 2017
Celebrating Master Wallace's 40th Year in Taekwon-Do

Another successful evening and one I think that will be remembered due to the calibre of our guests and speakers with the message they conveyed. This evening was as Master McNairn stated a roller coaster of emotions, one minute laughing the next "getting a tissue", this time for real. Powerful stuff. All of our award winners were worthy recipients and behind them were a line of those who were considered also. We are so lucky that we have such energy and commitment 2017 will I expect be another super year for us and that is down to your efforts and it is great to see new faces and faces that have been with us for so long. I can teach, but as I like to say "It is only when the student is ready that the teacher will appear" therefore it is you that makes it happen so take a lot of credit for our successes over the last year.

Thank you all for making it such a high energy evening and also thank you so much for the reception of my 40 years in Taekwon-Do.I will not forget Saturday evening. I hope you all enjoyed our guest and what he said to us all on Perseverance. We all think we have troubles and challenges but there is always someone else who has had worse. Some of you know the story about our guest and it is an inspiring one at that, but he humbly chose to speak about someone else who experienced worse than him and kept going.

Your generosity was also overwhelming and thank you so much for the collective and individual gifts I received. Thank you for everything..
Master Wallace VIII

12TH ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS

This years awards night was held on on Friday 27th March 2015 in the Douglas Hotel, Aberdeen.  Although there were only 127 this year, we had a fantastic night.  There were only a small number of award winners not in attendance and our new band "Reel of Fortune Ceilidh Band" were just brilliant.  They very cleverly brought  modern music into the celidh dances and had the dance floor packed even at the very end.

11TH ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS

Our 11th Annual Academy Awards was held on Saturday 29th March 2014 in the Douglas Hotel, Aberdeen and was was attended by 180 students along with many family & friends.  Our VIP guests this year were Mr & Mrs Campins, Mr & Mrs Boydell and Mr & Mrs Lupton.

Our new venue proved to be a huge hit with everyone and we hope to return there next year.  Our new band Ghillie Dhu also proved to be a huge hit keeping the dance floor filled the entire night!!

10TH ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS

This years Awards Night was held on Saturday 2nd March 2013 in the Britannia Hotel, Aberdeen and was a special evening for us as we were celebrating our 10th Awards Night.  There was of course a huge cake to mark the event.  We were thrilled by the turnout this year with 190 attending and very much dressed to impress!

The results of all the awards issued are listed below and photographs are now available to order from reception from Donald Stewart Photography and must be ordered before 14th April to avoid extra postage charges.   Our VIP guest this year were Mr David McNairn VI Deg, Mr Jamie Campins VI Deg, Mr Mark Boydell V Deg and Mr Andy Lister I Deg who was our guest speaker.  He gave a truly inspirational speech and received a well deserved standing ovation.  He very kindly presented Master Wallace with an amazing plaque which you can now see in our academy.

We opted for a new Ceilidh Band this year (Spindrift) who proved a popular addition.  We also had a surprise singer (Wayne Martin) who joined the band for a few songs and also proved very popular with the crowds.  We do hope to see this event increase in size each year as it really is the best event in our yearly calendar.

The Awards Night

Although portrayed as a social evening, it is very much an official event.  It is also the most important Academy event of the year where all students should be attending to support the Academy and its achievements over the year.  As a martial arts student, you are part of a family who should always be there to support one another as thinking of others and being happy for others success is all part of the Tenets of Taekwon-Do.

The main part of the evening is of course the presentation of awards.  Following this, a finger buffet is served to the tables and our Ceilidh after party begins.

One of the great things about this event is being able to enjoy a night out with like minded people.  There is also a broad range of age groups allowing children to participate, and of course in many cases be the focal point of a grown up evening.

There are many awards to be presented on the night for all age groups –

NINJAS - KICKIN’ KIDS – JUNIORS –
TEENS - SENIORS and include:
